Our family has been visiting the Alabama Gulf Coast since my oldest was about 9 months old. The first place that we ever stayed was at The Beach Club in Fort Morgan.
The Beach Club, offers bookings directly through Spectrum Resorts, or through the owners of the units themselves. It is important to note that should you decide to book through Spectrum directly, there are perks that you don’t get if you go through the owners, unless the access is purchased separately.
From the Spectrum Website:
- 10% Discount at all Retail and Dining Outlets (seasonal) With Your Spectrum Wristband
- Cashless Resort Charging With Your Spectrum Wristband
- Complete Access to All Resort Amenities (this includes the clubhouse)
Everything that you will need to check in to your accommodations, are done via the mobile app. This is an important note and a funny story.
We checked into our condo and we got settled in and decided to go for a walk on the beach and being the fantastic mother that I am, I decided to leave the phone in the condo, and be present. Yes, indeed the very phone with app containing the code that gives you access to your condo. My biggest piece of advice is to make sure that you write down the code, or tell it to another family member OR just take your phone with you to the beach.
On-Site Restaurants:
The Village Hideaway:
We’ve eaten at the Village Hideaway several times and liked it each time. The food offerings are the kind that everyone in your family will be able to find something they like. Think pizza, burgers, salads the kind of thing that is perfect for after a long day at the beach.
It is important to note that every time we’ve gone, there has been a very lengthy wait. So, plan accordingly. Perhaps going at a time that isn’t peak dinner or lunch time is the best bet.
That being said they do have an Xbox and Nintendo switch set up where kids (and adults) can hang out and play while waiting, regular arcade games as well as a 3D golf simulator.
The Village Creamery:
Located in the same area as the Village Hideaway, the Village Creamery is exactly what it sounds like an ice cream shop that also has coffee, sundaes, cookies and other treats.
Additionally, you can get a few grocery items and also supplies like laundry detergent etc here as well.
The Village Lawn and Food Trucks:
During the summer months, go and hang out in the food truck area and sample a wide range of different types of food being served. There are picnic tables scattered around the area and lots of outdoor games for the kids to play with while waiting on dinner.
Gulfside Bar and Grill:
Located near the Clubhouse Pool, the Gulfside Bar and Grill is a great option for lunch or an early dinner should you not want to go back to your condo or cottage for the meal.
A seasonality note, the Gulfside Bar and Grill closes mid to late October for the season.
Coast Restaurant:
If you are looking for a nicer dinner during your vacation, you can find that at the Coast Restaurant. It is located inside of the Clubhouse at the Beach Club.
This is the one restaurant that my family hasn’t visited while staying at the Beach Club, but I’ve heard a lot of rave reviews from my friends who have dined there and loved it.
Accommodations at the Beach Club:
Condos:
There are four different towers that feature ocean front condos. Each condo tower, has a pool associated with it and are not heated.
The Condos are owned and maintained by the owners of each unit, so even if you book directly through Spectrum, it is important to note that remodeling, and general decor is up to the owner of the condo, you can however check the condo out before booking via a virtual tour.
All of the condos at The Beach Club are ocean front condos with a balcony and you can choose from 1,2,3,4 or 5 bedrooms.
All beds have a clean coverlet for each stay, regardless if the condo is booked via Spectrum or through the owner.
If doing laundry while you are on vacay is your thing, you are in luck because all of the condos have a washer and dryer. Seriously, going home with clean clothes is very under rated.
Cottages:
If something a little more private is a priority, the cottages are a great choice. It is important to note that they are not ocean front so there will be a little bit of a trek to the beach from your cottage.
Every time we’ve been to the beach club I’ve noticed how nice all of the cottages looked (honestly, they all look very upscale)
I’ve seen cottages with private pools as well as hot tubs, so if that is something that is of interest to you and your crew, you can set the search results up to filter for that.
The cottages range in size from two to five bedrooms.
The Clubhouse at the Beach Club:
The clubhouse amenities at the beach club are for guests that have booked directly through Spectrum or those who have purchased club access. If you choose to add on the clubhouse access, the daily fee depends on the size of your accommodations. Starting with 1 bedrooms at $42 for one day and going up to a 5 bedroom at $50 for one day.
Indoor pool:
At the clubhouse there is a pool that goes up to 5 feet in depth and is heated. So if it is raining there is no problem!
Outdoor pool:
The outdoor pool at the clubhouse has the Gulfside Bar and Grill near by and also features poolside service with a variety of food and drink options.
The pool at the clubhouse is heated in March and April. If you don’t have a towel handy, there are towels for use at the clubhouse free of charge. The only ask is that they be left at the clubhouse when you leave.
Fitness Center:
In addition to the normal things that you’d expect in a fitness center, you can also take fitness classes if you’d rather not try and figure out the machines. They offer yoga, zumba, and aqua zumba.
There are locker rooms for showering and keeping personal items safe.
Arcade:
The arcade is super cool in that the games that are there don’t cost anything. So get competitive with a family air hockey or foosball tournament.
If you have a family member like we do, that was missing his Xbox, they also have 2 Xbox One consoles in the arcade.
Fast Facts about The Beach Club
The Beach Club is not exactly close to the major attractions of the Gulf Shores and Orange Beach area, however for a lot of people that is a large part of the appeal. Once you turn onto Fort Morgan road off of HWY 59 (which is the main road into Gulf Shores) it is 12 miles.
Because The Beach Club is so far removed from the major touristy attractions, it is perfect for the vacationers who just want to appreciate the beach for being, well the beach. You really don’t have to leave the property until you check out if you don’t want to.
There are porch swings along the walkway that leads to the beach perfect for looking out over the ocean and chatting, or bringing a book and reading.
Our family loves the Beach Club and I think yours will too!
