Each year, the Galt House Hotel in Louisville, Kentucky puts on a fantastic Christmas celebration!
Seriously, if you don’t feel in the holiday spirit after attending, I will be very, very surprised. Unless of course, you are a Scrooge, like my husband and just don’t feel the warm fuzzies when surrounded by Christmas joy.
My family and I were lucky enough to attend the event this past weekend and my children left immediately asking when we could put up our tree. There are lots of activities that go on during Christmas at the Galt House, but the main attraction is KaLightoscope: a beautiful display of lighted silk displays.
This year’s theme is the 12 Days of Christmas, with each of the 12 days depicted in the silk figures. They were breathtaking! I really enjoyed the facts by each of the 12 days. They provided some good talking points to help educate the kiddos (and myself!)
Additionally, my kiddos were able to talk with Santa (digital copies are complementary and a printed version is available for an additional fee), walk through a Christmas Village (think a beautiful decorative village, with doors that open revealing surprises), write a letter and mail it to Santa, make a snowflake and build a snowman.
My favorite ‘extra’ might just be the sleigh ride green screen! There is a box of additional Christmas garb that you can throw on to make your sleigh ride even more festive. The ride is captured on video and then emailed to you.
There is also an Elf Show, where a group of 4 elves sing some of the Christmas classics, it was very cute and short enough that it kept my kiddo’s attention the entire time.
There are a few activities that do incur an additional charge should you choose to do them. Family Vacations U.S Tip: If you choose to allow your kids to purchase an extra, I would decide when purchasing the tickets. Otherwise, you will have to walk back around to the front to purchase the tickets.
These extra costs include: Pick a present ($5, a game that is just what it seems), Reindeer Ring Toss ($5, toss rings around the reindeer’s antlers to win a prize), and Face Painting ($8).
