5 Things that might surprise you about Dave and Buster’s

As hard as it is to believe, I until my experience at Dave and Buster’s media day in Louisville, Kentucky, I had yet to visit this entertainment destination.

Dave and Buster’s has 122 and counting locations with one of the newest locations being about 15 minutes from my home. I have seen commercials and passed them when we have been out of town, but for whatever reason we hadn’t made a stop.

Have grown up fun at Dave and Buster's

The games that I found at Dave and Buster’s were very similar if not the same in some cases, to the games that my children play at an arcade that we’ve spent entirely too much money visiting. The biggest difference is, while children are welcomed with an adult until the age of 18, the premise is to let adults be big kids. All while eating good food, drinking innovative cocktails and of course playing games.

Haven’t visited a Dave and Buster’s before? Below are 5 things that might surprise you about Dave and Buster’s:

  • The food is awesome

I have to be honest, when I think of arcade food, I think of the rubbery pizza and microwave pretzels that can be found at similar arcades geared towards kids.

This is not the case at Dave and Buster’s, the food is innovative and what was even more appealing and surprising to me is that a large portion of dishes are set up to share. The prices weren’t totally out of line either.

I tried a wide variety from their Impossible Burger (100% meat free and 100% amazing) to the Philly Cheese Steak (surprisingly a really awesome Philly) to even an appetizer like avocado toast. I was really impressed by the wide variety of dishes that were really good. In fact, the menu is so diverse and delicious, I could see myself going there just to eat and not even playing any games.

  • Dave and Busters is a great spot for a date night.

While kids are welcome, so long as any kid under 18 has an adult with them. A date night or a girls night to Dave and Buster’s is sure to be a ton of fun.

I don’t know about you, but my husband and I have been known to push our kids out of the way to challenge each other to a game of Down the Clown. A kid free night at Dave and Buster’s allows you the freedom to play the games that you want without swiping your kid’s game card.

Plus, I don’t know about you, but there is something about challenging your man (or lady) to a game to stir up some friendly competition.

  • You can play games for 1/2 price on Wednesday.

Dave and Buster’s opens at 11 am and closes at Midnight on Wednesday’s which allows you ample amount of time to take advantage of this great deal. Maybe a working lunch is in order and you could challenge your boss to a friendly game of Mario Kart?

  • You will find a lot of them at Malls.

The Dave and Buster’s opening locally to me in Louisville, Kentucky is located in the Mall St. Matthew’s. Over time, the mall has seen the larger department stores close up shop for one reason or another. That’s where Dave and Buster’s come in, instead of building a new space, they take an existing space and remodel it to fit their specifications.

In my opinion, they are single handily saving the mall. I don’t know what it is like in your area. Until the boutique shops came in and entertainment like the movie theaters and Dave and Buster’s, the malls were becoming a ghost town.

  • Team building events are their jam.

Ok, so I know that this one seems a little far fetched, but they really do have very specific team building activities that your workplace can take advantage of. From Arcade Relay Racer, Mission Possible, Midway Showdown and Dave’s Epic Quest, there is sure to be a version of team building at Dave and Buster’s that your team will appreciate.

Let’s be honest here, everyone is really tired of doing ropes courses.

No matter what brings you to Dave and Buster’s you are sure to have a fantastic time!
