It was recently brought to my attention that you can stay at the same resort that Baby and her family did in the iconic film, Dirty Dancing.
For three weeks in the summer you can relive the same scenes that were acted out in the film. Here is the catch, it fills up quickly and after all there are only three weeks that you can choose from to get the Dirty Dancing experience.
Here is what I think lots of people are missing. This lodge has so much to offer beyond the movie experience.
The first thing you need to know, should you make the voyage to Virginia to stay at the Mountain Lake Lodge.
There are a few lodging options.
Of course, you can stay at the main lodge but there are other choices as well.
Stay in a cottage or cabin: these lodging options are as close to the Dirty Dancing experience as you can get!
The Chestnut Lodge is a smaller offshoot of the main lodge and just as nice! Just a note: If you have people in your group that need handicap accessible accommodations this is not the building for you, as there are no elevators.
Blueberry Ridge Mountain Homes: If you are traveling with a large group or just think that you will want a little more room to spread out this is a great choice.
Things do to:
The resort offers activities for visitors who want to swing by for just a day visit. It is $5 per carload to access the trails and the parking area. Once that fee is paid guests are welcome to use the 22 miles of hiking and biking trails and are invited to dine in the onsite restaurants.
Guests of the lodge are also able to hike, rent mountain bikes or if adventure is up your alley you are able to do the treetop adventure course. The adventure course is zip lines, obstacle courses and bridges at the canopy level (in other words, really high up!).
In the Winter, take part in snowshoeing or skiing on the mountain.
Things to Eat:
If food is what you are after the Lodge is a fantastic destination. There are 2 restaurants on site and they are using locally sourced produce and meats.
The tavern on site offers small plates, desserts, and local microbrews.
No matter what draws you to the Mountain Lake Lodge, we are sure that you will leave rejuvenated and possibly ready to watch Dirty Dancing again!
