Fall Break Ideas

Fall Break Ideas

School is back in session and with school comes routine. I love a routine but man the homework has already started taking a toll and I can’t help but daydream about fall break.

Here in Kentucky we get a break that isn’t quite a week long but it is plenty of time to get away for a few days! Let’s pretend for a moment that distance isn’t an issue.

With that in mind here are 5 places that I would love to spend fall break with my family! Blueridge_mountains

Roanoke, Virginia: The biggest reason that comes to mind for visiting this town would be the beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains. This town houses an abundance of restaurants that are sure to please even the pickiest of eaters! Not to mention providing the perfect location to get out and hike, mountain bike, kayak or just take in the beauty with your family.

Scottsdale, Arizona: Besides visiting my visiting my dear grandmother there are lots of fun things to do while you are in town! Why not take the time to tour the Sonoran Desert? There is lots to do, like take a jeep or a hummer tour of the dessert, or you can take in the dessert from the back of a horse! The Phoenix Zoo is a destination that needs to be at the top of your list.

Orlando, Florida: This town makes our list but not for the reason that you might think! Ever since my kids caught wind  of the LegoLand Hotel that opened over the summer, they have talked about it non stop! The rooms are themed, from pirates to knights the rooms are sure to keep everyone entertained! We haven’t even talked about the theme park, where your Lego lover can go totally wild! It is on our short list for sure!

Mammoth Cave, Kentucky: This location is just a little way from where we are in Louisville, mammoth_caveKentucky. Take our word for it that it is worth the trip. Mammoth Cave is part of the National Parks system and is so amazing to see! Not to mention if you go, you and your family can sleep in a teepee. If you do decide to visit Mammoth Cave, be sure to swing by Cave City and visit Funtown Mountain!

Downtown_Huntsville,_AlabamaHuntsville, Alabama: My little family hopes to head back to town very soon. We really stopped over just long enough to sleep and move on to our beach destination. Trust me when I say that we really shortchanged ourselves! There are tons of free activities like the Duck Scavenger Hunt and amazing restaurants to try. Read our post about our recent visit here.
