I am one of those rare breeds that doesn’t look forward to fall. I love summer and wish it would stay that way all year. It’s not that I hate fall necessarily, it’s just that I know after fall comes the dreaded winter, and I hate winter. So I have decided that this year I will accept the fact that there are in fact 4 seasons and that they should all be appreciated. So I have decided to make a fall bucket list. These are probably things that normal people do all the time, so I encourage you to make your own seasonal bucket lists.

1. Embrace the pumpkin
Have a pumpkin flavored food or beverage you have never had before. This could be a pumpkin cheesecake or the new pumpkin M&Ms. For me, I will have an over-priced pumpkin flavored hot beverage. I am tired of my Starbucks loving friends squealing about the seasonal Pumpkin Spice Latte. If you can’t beat them, join them!
2. Get your party on
Throw a Halloween Party for the kids in the neighborhood. I have avoided this task like the plague, but I have to admit that when I see those foods and treats made to look Halloweenish on Pinterest I think they’d be so fun . . . for the mom that actually goes through this kind of trouble. This year I will be that mom! I will do it! If you do this every year, then break the mold and have an adult Halloween party!
3. Expand your wardrobe
Buy a new fall clothing item or boots. I never buy myself new clothes, why would waste money on me when my daughter wants Taylor Swift tickets? This year, I will buy a fall sweater just because I can.
4. Have a movie night
Watch a scary movie. Why is this on my bucket list? Because I haven’t watched a scary movie in years because I am a giant wimp! This year I will watch the new Stephen King remake It. Ok, I’m totally kidding I would pee my pants if I watched that, but I will watch a scary movie and repeat to myself throughout, “This isn’t real. This isn’t real. This isn’t real.”
5. Enjoy the colors
Enjoy the outdoor fall foliage more. There are some great parks that are well known for their fall foliage, so I will make more of an effort to head out among the trees. Maybe I’ll even take the camera and drag a couple of kids with me! Take a look at these posts about the best spots to see fall colors.
6. Visit Your Favorite Pumpkin Patch
One of my family’s favorite fall activities is visiting a local pumpkin patch. We love picking the perfect pumpkin and then coming back and carving the pumpkins which leads us to our activity…
7. Eat Roasted Pumpkin Seeds
When you carve your pumpkin make sure that you save the seeds and let your kids taste the fruits of their labor! Check out this post from This Mama Loves with a great recipe for roasted pumpkin seeds.
8. Make your own apple cider
Why not try your hand at making apple cider? Enjoy the fruits of your labor from apple picking and make some delicious apple cider! Here’s a recipe if you don’t already have one.
Hope you have fun making your own fall bucket list! Consider fun ideas like fall ziplining, horseback riding, baking parties, and more!
