Unwind at the Garden of the Gods Club and Resort

Unwind at the Garden of the Gods Club and Resort

Recently my husband and I took a tour of the amazingly beautiful state of Colorado. For this proclaimed beach loving girl, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed myself.

Garden of the Gods Club and Resort

Our visit started in Colorado Springs, just a little over an hour from the Denver airport, at the Garden of the Gods Club and Resort.

When we arrived at the property, I was instantly struck by the beauty of the grounds and we hadn’t even stepped through the front door! A large floral arrangement greeted us in the lobby, and we were welcomed into the resort by an extremely friendly and helpful staff member!

The Accommodations

Our Room at Garden of the Gods Club and Resort

Our room was a junior suite attached to the main building (this is important to note as there are other rooms available that are adjacent to the main area), upon walking into our room I was wowed by how much space there was. The bathroom set up included a huge walk in closet ( I later learned that all of the rooms have this feature!) and 2 separate vanity areas, so you know, if you have lots of makeup and hair tools, your husband won’t have to push them out of the way!

There was a separate living area, with a large couch, fireplace and show-stopping views of the Garden of the Gods park. I spent a considerable amount of time on that couch snuggled under a cozy blanket reading a book, enjoying the amazing views of the park.

Our Round at Kissing Camels Golf Course

We were scheduled for a round of golf at the Kissing Camels golf course the evening of our arrival. In the effort of full disclosure, I was incredibly nervous about how the golfing would go. You see, I am extremely uncoordinated, to an embarrassing point, and until this sad attempt at golfing I had only ever played the ‘miniature’ version. Let’s put it this way, I was so exquisitely horrible that we stuck to the driving range, this was my own decision. I landed on this decision for 2 reasons, the divots that I had managed to produce while attempting to hit the balls on the range were cringe worthy.

Even though I am no golfer, I am able to tell that the course was top notch. I was blown away by the views that those who play the course on a regular basis get to enjoy.

The club at the course also features the Kissing Camels Grille, which was way more my speed! The views from the dining room were of the beautifully manicured course and on a clear day, Pikes Peak is also visible.

Both the golf course and the grille are located across the street from the main resort building. Keep in mind this area is tucked back into the neighborhood, so I would plan to drive. If you didn’t rent a car for this trip, don’t worry, the resort also provides a shuttle service of sorts. The only thing that I need to point out is the fact that this is by request, so a bit of coordination is required here.

An Experience in the Garden of the Gods Park

Climbing in the Garden of the Gods

Recently, the resort has partnered with Front Range Climbing Company, so if rock climbing is your thing, let the concierge know when you are booking your stay and they can arrange an excursion that will work with your schedule.

Regardless of what your group’s agenda for the day may be, climbing or otherwise, don’t miss the chance to take in the park up close and personal. The rock formations are stunning and it seemed that after every turn we rounded, we were treated to a new perspective of the area.

The Spa

After our rock climbing adventure, I was so excited that there was a couples massage session that awaited us. The Spa is located in the main building of the resort, for now, there was extensive construction happening while we were visiting. When the construction is complete, the spa and the exercise room will move to the new space allowing for more room and the abilities for expanded services.

Inside of the changing rooms, for both the men and the women, there is a eucalyptus steam shower. For this Louisville native where allergies have become a way of life, it was really nice to relax in the steam room and let my sinuses clear out.

The massage was just what my husband and I needed after a physically intense day. Once the treatment was finished I enjoyed a glass of champagne, the guests of the resort that book a treatment are welcome to use the hot tub and the steam room for the entire day of your appointment.

Grand View Dining Room

Our evening ended with a meal in the Grand View Dining Room, located in the main building. The view is certainly grand, especially before the sun sets for the evening.

Family Vacay Note:  We found dinner service to take place at a leisurely pace, which was just fine for us, as we didn’t have any obligations afterward. However, if you are visiting and plan another activity after dinner, you may want to leave a little more time than you would typically spend at dinner.

The Takeaway

We only got to stay at the Garden of the Gods Resort for 2 nights, but we really enjoyed our stay. The views were the best and the staff was exceptional. The resort had an overall feel of luxury, but if I was to travel with my children, I would have felt absolutely comfortable bringing them along as well.

The resort is an easy drive from downtown Colorado Springs or Manitou Springs and both of these towns have fun attractions and fantastic restaurants.

Should we find ourselves in the Garden of the God’s area of Colorado again, we will absolutely be checking into the Garden of the God’s Club and Resort for more of their incredible views and hospitality.
