Let’s face it, even if you think the Elf on the Shelf is the most magical thing to happen to Christmas since Rudolph, there are likely nights that you sit up in bed and think, crap I forgot to move the Elf.
This year is bound to be no exception except for the fact that I really want to make sure that I make things as special as I possibly can and I really don’t want to forget to move the darn Elf!
Which is where the current situation is going to work to everyone’s advantage. Since your Elf is traveling internationally to arrive at your home, it only makes sense that he or she would have to quarantine for 14 days to ensure that everyone is safe. It is after all, the responsible thing to do.
Every good Elf in quarantine also needs to have a mask, to I’ve got you covered on how to make sure your Elf is masked up and ready for Christmas festivities.
Here’s what you will need to make sure that your quarantine is a success for your Elf on the Shelf:
Quarantine sign, printed on card stock paper (click for PDF to print)
cutter or scissors
marker
popsicle stick or bamboo skewer
clear tape
1 sheet of toilet paper
Baker’s twine or yarn
Accessories:
Toilet Paper
Antibacterial Wipes
Hand Sanitizer
How to make a mask for your Elf on the Shelf:
Fold one piece of toilet paper in half.
Cut a rectangle out along the fold that fits onto your elf’s face.
Cut two pieces of twine and open the mask.
Tape the twine pieces onto the mask.
Roll a piece of tape, so the adhesive side is out and fold the mask in half, covering the twine.
Lay the mask onto the elf.
Add a piece of tape onto the elf’s face to affix the mask.
Tie the mask around the elf’s head in the back.
How to create a quarantine elf:
Use a paper trimmer to cut out the quarantine sign.
Use a marker to write the number of days your elf needs to quarantine, as well as the name and date the elf can come out of quarantine.
Tape a popsicle stick onto the back of the sign with clear tape.
Tuck the sign into a roll of toilet paper.
Tuck your elf into a roll of toilet paper and display with hand sanitizer and antibacterial wipes as desired.
Enjoy your vacation from having to move the elf!
