Visit Beautiful Albuquerque, New Mexico!

Visit Beautiful Albuquerque, New Mexico!

If you are considering a trip west, New Mexico is gorgeous!  The Sandia Mountains run along the eastern side of Albuquerque, and the Rio Grande flows through the city, north to south. Make sure you make time to see all the beauty that this town has to offer.  There is a ton of fun stuff to do while you are in town, either with kids or without!

Things to do while visiting Albuquerque, New Mexico

One of the best ways to see the true beauty of New Mexico is to take a trip on the Sandia Peak Aerial Tramway. The experience transports you above deep canyons and breathtaking terrain. It’s a beautiful site, but for added extra beauty try to time your ride for sunset. At the top, you can spend some time walking around on the Sandia Peak observation deck. You will have a great view of the Cibola National Forest including the Rio Grande Valley and the Land of Enchantment. The area also includes winter skiing for you snow bunnies!

Explora
is a great interactive science museum to spend the day. What I love about the various children’s museums across the country is that they all offer something different and a new learning experience so that kids are never bored.  My kids have never said, “Ah man!  Another museum?!”  They all have something to love and this great museum is no different. Sections are separated according to elements like wind, light, water, etc

Albuquerque’s Bio Park is definitely a great way to spend the day.  The zoo, aquarium, botanical gardens and Tingley Beach are all part of the bio park. The aquarium is small compared to other U.S. aquariums but is well maintained. The botanical gardens have a lovely butterfly pavilion and in the summer you can enjoy live music. The kids will love the extra large ant farm. The zoo is awesome for being in such a small city. At nearby Tingley Beach enjoy fishing, boating, picnics and hiking just minutes from downtown Albuquerque near the Rio Grande.

Albuquerque is the balloon capital of the world!

Anderson-Abruzzo Albuquerque International Balloon Museum is a unique experience.  This isn’t the type of museum where you would spend the entire day but it’s certainly something different to do. Did you know that Albuquerque is the ballooning capital of the world due to its unique wind patterns? I never really thought much about ballooning but this is really interesting.  The museum is modern and the staff is really knowledgeable.

Straight Up Pizza is the best pizza in town!  Pizzas are great, customer service is great, ranch dressing is to die for! If I lived in Albuquerque I would seriously be eating at Straight Up Pizza every Friday night. If you are in New Mexico you will definitely have to eat some authentic Mexican food.  Check out Taqueria Mexico for all the classic Mexican favorites done right.  They also offer a selection of refreshing specialty beverages that are sure to be a delight after a long day in the New Mexico sun.

[* WordPress Simple Firewall plugin marked this comment as "pending". Reason: Human SPAM filter found "oy" in "comment_content" *] I love Albuquerque! Not only is it a great place to visit but 2 of my grandchildren live there. The best time to go is the first or second weeks of October. This is when the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta is held. The Balloon Museum holds a Balloons and Breakfast or a Dine and Glow during the Fiesta. You can watch the balloon ascension from the museum (awesome views) and enjoy a fully catered buffet breakfast. It is a little pricey but it is a wonderful experience!
