Savannah Children’s Museum

There is a fantastic children’s museum in Savannah. My family and I love seeking out the local children’s museums and this one is phenomenal. The museum is located on the site of a  former train station, which just adds to the allure of the museum that much more. They have weekly play-dates for younger children, as well as many other exhibits. What makes this museum unique is that it is all outdoors, so keep that in mind when you plan a trip.

Oatland Island Wildlife Center

If you want to see animals up close and personal head to the Oatland Island Wildlife Center. They have wolves, birds of prey and predators that are native to Georgia, just to name a few. Every year, during the first weekend in May, they have a Fairy and Gnome Festival that is fun for everyone in your family!tybee-island-lighthouse

Tybee Island

Take a short drive to the coast you will find yourself at Tybee Island where your family can spend a day beaching it up. Also located on Tybee Island is the Marine Center, the center is open year round. For a very reasonable fee, you and your family can take part in a walk talk and trek, where you will discover and learn about marine life native to the area.

Fort Pulaski National Monument

For the Civil War buff in your group, plan a visit to Fort Pulaski National Monument. You and your family can check out the drawbridges, and old cannons. If you are up for spending the whole day, there are several different trails that you can hike giving you a unique perspective of the fort.

Just make sure that on your trip to Savannah, you don’t leave before you visit Forsyth Park.  Your children will like the fountains and you will love the beauty and the overhanging trees that line the sidewalks.
